Job Description

A Lab Assistant for our fabulous Creative Fragrance Perfumery Lab in Dubai, and providing essential support for both our Fine Fragrance and Fragrance Consumer Products development teams supporting our customers in the Middle East & North Africa markets - Your future position?

Fragrance is at the heart of Givaudan. We have a rich history of creating fragrances that strike an emotional chord with consumers. We are inspired by our rich heritage and our contribution to defining the evolution of the trends over time. We create scents that shape people’s lives.

Our Perfumery Lab in Dubai provides critical lab and analytical support for our creative fragrance development teams for consumer products and fine fragrance categories, helping Givaudan provide unique fragrance solutions for our customers in the Middle East & North Africa markets.

We now have several ‘Lab Assistant’ roles open to support our increasing project pipeline and expanding Creative Fragrance Perfumery Lab in our Regional Creative Centre in Dubai. You will be based in our Dubai Media City office and report to the Creative Fragrance Perfumery Lab Team Leader.

You will support the daily lab operations and the Perfumers for compounding trial oils and secure the availability of fragrance samples for evaluation and testing according to business needs and Environment, Health, and Safety policies. This is a permanent and full-time role and offers excellent opportunities for both personal and professional development.

You will work for a company that touches billions of consumers more than a hundred times a day. With its heritage stretching back over 250 years, Givaudan has a long history of innovating scents and tastes. Our passion is to collaborate with customers and partners to develop game-changing innovations in the food & beverage, fragrance and beauty industries. We have a culture that works to inspire, challenge and capture the heart and soul of consumers and customers. Our customers in the region have local, regional, and international profiles, bringing diversity and curiosity to your daily job.

Sounds interesting? This could well be your perfect opportunity if you have a real passion for the world of fragrance & perfume, always aim to exceed customer needs, and provide value.

In this exciting role, with a 'can-do’ mindset, you will -

Compounding:

  • Perform the entire compounding process - blending fragrance ingredients according to the formulas provided.
  • Perform the sampling process - compounding, mixing, packaging, and cleaning or prioritise any other urgent tasks which may arise from time to time, with an efficient and cost-effective approach.
  • Independently undertake the preparation of dilutions and standard references and repacking of certain raw materials.

Raw material olfactive checks:

  • Identify differences in colour and odour for specific raw materials.

Prioritise Lab safety and housekeeping

  • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, organised laboratory environment by observing Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines and Givaudan’s good laboratory practices.
  • Understand the hazards and risks in the responsible work area.
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment, a safe work culture, and good housekeeping practices for neat care of the lab and secure handling of chemicals and raw materials.

Laboratory Compounding Management System (LCMS):

  • Manage the fragrance formulas and information received from Perfumers via the internal LCMS system, interpret them, and proceed with compounding.

Support raw material inventory management:

  • Manage the information available from the SAP system to manage raw material inventories - ensuring that we have enough stock for each raw material for all the allocated workstations
  • Remove raw materials near their expiry date or when a particular batch has a quality compromise.

Initiatives:

  • Be an active team player with an open mind for continuous improvement opportunities and initiatives.
  • Have a constant endeavour to learn the usage of all internal systems.
