Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (HiHFAD) is a Non-Profit, Non-Governmental, Charitable Incorporated Organization registered in the United Kingdom and in Türkiye (TR: İyilik İçin El Ele Derneği) that provides high standards in humanitarian and relief services to the most vulnerable wherever needed through local engagement and global support.

Established in 2011 by a group of British-Syrian diaspora, HiHFAD was born out of a desire to extend a helping hand to vulnerable groups and displaced families in Syria and beyond. Since then, HiHFAD remained at the forefront of humanitarian agencies, providing life-saving aid to Syrians in hard-to-reach areas. Our extensive Healthcare Program has enabled us to expand and reach even more communities and internally displaced people; providing a comprehensive, integrated multi-sectoral intervention in Health, Nutrition, WaSH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Protection, Shelter, Non-Food Assistance, Food Security, Livelihoods, and Education.

HiHFAD mandate is to alleviate the suffering of those in need without any type of discrimination, protect the most vulnerable, promoting social justice and welfare, and fostering durable solutions through delivering community-based humanitarian and development interventions.

Job overview

The MEAL Assistant at the head office supports the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities across various projects. This role involves assisting in data collection, entry, and analysis, supporting the implementation of MEAL plans, and contributing to the preparation of reports. The MEAL Assistant works closely with the MEAL Officer and other team members to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation processes and to promote a culture of learning and accountability within the organization.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

1-Data Collection and Entry:

  • Assist in collecting data through surveys, interviews, and other methods.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of collected data into the database.

2-Support in MEAL Plan Implementation:

  • Assist in the implementation of MEAL plans for various projects.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure organized and consistent data collection.

3-Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Assist in the analysis of collected data and preparation of reports.
  • Provide support in generating insights and recommendations based on data analysis.

4-Capacity Building:

  • Support training sessions for project teams and field staff on data collection methods and MEAL best practices.
  • Assist in organizing workshops and training sessions to enhance the MEAL capacity of the team.

5-Accountability Support:

  • Support the Accountability Senior Officer in disseminating information and promoting accountability mechanisms.
  • Assist in implementing feedback and complaints mechanisms to ensure beneficiary engagement.

6-Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the MEAL team as needed.
  • Maintain proper documentation and filing of MEAL-related materials.

Background Knowledge & Experience

Education Level: Bachelor degree in statistics, information, sociology, mathematics, sciences or any related field

Work Experience: One year of experience in data collection, entry, or administrative support.

Trainings: Basic training in data collection and management.

Languages: English: B2  Arabic: C2 Turkish: B1

 

Skills and Abilities  

Commitment to safety and security standards

Flexibility to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment

Ability to travel regularly to the field to monitor activities and projects, and provide support to the field team.

Data Management Tools.

Basic proficiency in using data management tools such as Excel.

Digital Data Collection:

Basic knowledge of digital data collection platforms like Kobo Toolbox.
