Job Description

 

Background

Global Communities’ Office of Humanitarian Assistance (OHA) has developed a strategy for the organization’s response to the Syria crisis, anchored in a field presence.  Specifically, OHA is responding directly in Syria, intensifying GC’s assistance to Syrian IDPs. This is being carried out through an approach to programming where projects focus on sustainability rather than relief delivery. 

Global Communities Inc. Türkiye Temsilciliği is a fully registered organization in Türkiye and is currently building its humanitarian response professionals in Turkey. Global Communities Inc. Türkiye Temsilciliği intends to hire a full-time Food Security & Livelihoods Assistant (CVA-CBT) ​(SoW herein) to implement projects, while based in Gaziantep through humanitarian assistance programming. 

The FSL Assistant (CVA-CBT) reports to the FSL Officer (CVA).  

 

Responsibilities

  • The FSL assistant will efficiently support the FSL team in implementing cash-based interventions/CVA, cash for food, MPCA...
  • Support the FSL team in following up and tracking CVA/CBT (Cash& Voucher Assistance/Cash-Based Transfer) activities starting from the assessment, BNFs registration, redemption, distributions, and reporting.
  • Develop and manage databases of the cash and vouchers and create the needed dashboards in coordination with the M&E department.
  • Work directly with field team/partners to ensure the activities are implemented as planned.
  • Participate and organize the training of the cash distribution and voucher redemption to the contracted retailers, FSPs, and GC and IPs field staff.
  • Support the FSL team in developing weekly and monthly activity plans, and in coordination with partners and other departments.
  • Support the FSL field team in preparing and tracking the weekly movement plan in coordination with operations and security teams.
  • Support partner teams in ensuring a secure and organized filing system and archive for beneficiary registration, distributions, and other required documentation. Where necessary, cross-check information to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Support the FSL team in preparing beneficiaries’ lists, and cost allocation per beneficiary and share such data with finance, M&E, and FSPs. Follow up with the finance department and FSPs to ensure smooth implementation of CBT.
  • Support the supervisor in preparing and uploading beneficiaries’ lists on the system and in coordination with the M&E team applicable monitoring plan during CVA redemption, cash distribution, and disbursements, and review PDMs results and other relevant monitoring reports.
  • Coordinate with feedback mechanism teams to deal with complaints or issues related to CBT activities.
  • Supporting program staff in submitting reports to the cluster system including 4&5Ws.
  • Schedule and organize and/or assist in preparing meetings, trainings, and workshops for partners’ staff.
  • Ability to conduct periodic field visits to Syria to follow up on the activities' progress.
  • Any other assignment by the supervisor.

 

Requirements (Essential)

  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in food technology, agriculture, economics, or any other relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a comparable position (cash/voucher programs) with an I/NGO in the Syrian context.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications including programming, MS programs Excel, Word, and Access
  • Familiarity with digital data gathering platforms and software and experience in data analysis and management and monitoring activities using widely used statistical packages such as KoBo, Fulcrum…etc.
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI. Working knowledge of ArcGIS, or other data collection and analysis software is a plus.
  • Fluent in Arabic and good written and oral communication skills in English and competency in translation from English to Arabic and vice versa.

  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills are required, with the ability to work independently and be self-directed, as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
