JOB ADVERTISEMENT – Visual and Digital Communications Intern

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.


ROLE PURPOSE: 

This role is critical for our community engagement and to ensure that affected communities  understand our services and activities. The Visual and Digital Communications Intern is contributing to implementation of communications strategy and is responsible for the active presence of Save the Children Türkiye across digital platforms and social media. The post holder will also work on development graphic design materials.

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Visual and Digital Communications Intern is responsible for collaboration with program teams in implementation of activities aligned with the communications, advocacy and campaign strategies, media engagement plans, digital and social media strategies.

Reports to: ACCM Manager

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Support Save the Children Türkiye Country Office (TCO) campaign efforts through raising public awareness on the education, humanitarian needs, displacement and other pressing issues facing children post-earthquake in Türkiye through the implementation of social media activities, while providing input to the production of digital materials
  • Contribute to production of accurate, clear and consistent information and communications outputs that highlight children’s situation and Save the Children’s work in Türkiye, including personal stories, videos, graphics or illustrations, etc.
  • Support the development of a social media plan as well as production of multimedia materials, website content and other digital work while using analytics to ensure all internal KPIs are met
  • Use social media platforms for information dissemination, outreach and promotion of activities while enhancing the acceptance of SCI TCO across the country with our targeted audiences
  • Coordinate with colleagues from different departments in communicating the program evidence, best practice and achievements as well as planning of digital component for SCI Türkiye projects
  • Develop and design graphic design products for print and digital
  • Support in the identification of influencers and other major social media content creators for collaboration and the promotion of Save the Children TCO and our activities
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

 

Output expectations:

  • Coordinating the messaging and posts for the social media platforms to ensure affected communities understand how and where to get Save the Children support
  • Compiling relevant information, helping to create educational materials, checking quality of videos and images, proof-reading, translating and editing of documents, supporting outputs etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

 

Essential

  • University degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, journalism, media, communications or similar discipline
  • Fluency in both spoken and written Turkish and English to provide outputs for a wide range of different audiences.
  • One year of professional experience in communications, multimedia, journalism, visual and digital or traditional media or external communications work
  • Knowledge of graphic design and/or video editing software
  • Can produce accurate, clear and consistent information and communication outputs relating to both program support and humanitarian situation
  • Proven ability to work with communities and partners to gather content on the humanitarian situation and on programs.
  • Experience and understanding of the situation in Türkiye, including the sensitivities
  • High level of spoken and written Arabic is highly desired.
  • Prior knowledge of social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social etc. is highly desired.

 

Position holder will be based in Gaziantep, Hatay or İstanbul with frequent travels to other cities, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
