CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Education Programme in SCI Türkiye Country Office (TCO) mainly focuses on increasing the access of children and youth to safe and inclusive education including but not limited to providing school rehabilitation, temporary education spaces, learning and teaching materials, back to learning activities, and supporting the wellbeing of teachers and students, both with direct and indirect interventions. Education Programme Assistant is a national position based in Hatay. As a member of the Programme Department, the role of Education Programme Assistant is to support daily oversight and implementation of Education programme interventions for affected communities in Hatay under the supervision of Education Officer, as well as in close coordination with other relevant teams (such as Child Protection, Livelihoods, Supply Chain, Monitoring & Evaluation Departments)
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Education Programme Officer
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Programme Implementation support
- Assist Programme team throughout all aspects of the programme cycle including start up, implementation, and project close outs.
- Carrying out needs assessment processes and engaging with stakeholders (school management, teachers, etc.) if necessary.
- Actively monitor Education project activities, ensuring quality of Save the Children’s programme, reporting and flagging concerns to Programme team
- Conducting field visits to follow-up program-related activities.
- Assisting in the organization of the programme activities by coordinating with other teams as well as taking part in the activities
- Prepare inputs to reports, summaries, graphs, and inputs to presentations in support to various project activities.
- Assist the team in organizing effective outreach activities by facilitating the communication, planning, through field monitoring etc.
- Support the team in the identification of programme supplies needs and in procurement processes coordination with Supply Chain department.
- Update the Hatay Education service mapping on a regular basis by the information provided by the Education Officer and Coordinator.
- Assist with stock consumption/inventory, and distribution plan where needed.
- Participate in internal and external Education programme related meetings if needed, (both inside and outside the city), taking notes to communicate with the relevant team members, and, supporting his/her supervisors on ad hoc tasks related to the projects.
- Contribute to communications, media and advocacy work as required.
- Ensure that project he/she is responsible for are implemented in ways responsive to the communities and children, in line with Save the Children principles, values and strategic plan and following Save the Children compliance procedures. This includes working with government and national NGO-partners to strengthen national capacity.
- Support the Education programme team in ensuring that partners follow to Save the children and requirements and regulations while carrying out education-related activities. Support execution of an internal and external project evaluations as necessary
- Contribute to strategic vision and direction to Education programme for TCO.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Produce timely reports for internal use on the ongoing activities of the project and schools.
- Ensure that data is collected on a weekly and monthly basis and the activity tracker is updated with the acquired data on a regular basis.
- Regularly visit project sites to ensure that implementing partners and teachers are appropriately supported.
Coordination
- Support effective coordination between education team and other programmes teams(CP&MHPSS, Distribution, Livelihoods, Shelter etc.) and support departments (supply chain, finance, MEAL, etc).
Reporting
- Provide inputs for project reports and situation reports based on the activities conducted in the field.
- Provide the SCI team with continuous feedback on project status and contextual changes, including supply processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or relevant fields
- At least 1 year of experience preferably working in an NGO environment or educational setting
- A good understanding of Education programme and a working knowledge of the program priorities of the Türkiye Country Office, overall education system in Türkiye, government institutions and public schools.
- Experience in organisation of events and meetings.
- Experience in managing priorities and working with tight deadlines.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in an emergency context, including long distances and out-of-town to implementation locations.
- Strong commitment to providing high levels of service delivery (both internal and external stakeholders).
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s mission, vision, and policies.
- Good communication skills – presentation, negotiation, analysis, reflection.
- Good knowledge on the MS Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Ability to analyse information and evaluate options.
- Fluency in spoken and written both Turkish and English.
- Speaking Arabic will be an asset.
Position holder will be based in Hatay with frequent travels to other cities, therefore legal right to work in Türkiye is necessary at the time of application.
