Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and

Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department/division.

3.2. Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom

he/she is responsible.

3.3. Carries out full range clinical duties as assigned by the Consultant/Senior Registrar

in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.

3.4. Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division.

3.5. Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality

Management Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as

applicable

Instructs and guides when necessary junior medical staff in the overall care of

patients, supervises their performance/work and contributes to the training and

teaching activities in the department/division.

3.7. Reports and discusses all unusual findings, complication or alterations in the

management plan, with the Senior Registrar and Consultant.

3.8. Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to

the continuing medical education.

3.9. Attends the Continuing Medical Education Programme of the department/division.

3.10. Works towards completing his professional training in Adult Cardiology including

diagnostics and therapeutic intervention.

3.1 1. Participates in approved research projects.

3.12. Shares workload in his/ her specialty during the absence of his colleagues.

3.13. To acquire and maintain a valid certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support

(ACLS).

3.14. Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard

to morbidity and cost effectiveness.

3.15. Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.

3.16. Educates patients and/or families on matters relevant to the patient's condition/s.

3.17. Protects and upholds the rights of the patients and their families.

3.18. Participates in quality improvement and patient safety activities and attends quality

improvement educational activities as appropriate.

3.19. Adheres to infection control guidelines.

3.20. Maintains confidentiality at all times.

3.21. Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of hisArer

knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical

facilities.
