Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Ministry of Defense Health Services (MODHS) is undergoing a healthcare service transformation, with the goal being to position MODHS as the best healthcare provider in the country. In Nursing this will be achieved primarily through the adoption of Magnet principles. The Senior Nursing Excellence Coordinator will help drive and deliver required changes in collaboration with other disciplines and stakeholders.

Supports the Nursing Department and leadership through the promotion of nursing quality, patient safety and performance improvement services, programs and strategies, in accordance with MODHS, organization and Nursing Administration Strategic Plans.

Provides leadership in clinical areas in meeting targets/deliverables under their expertise, and/or as per delegated/assigned. 

Supports Nursing Administration in the overall collaborative Strategic Plan through transformational leadership.


Education/Licensure  


Education:

Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of Nursing.

Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing or relevant field.

Essential: At least one healthcare certification or international equivalent certificate in Quality, Patient Safety, Risk Management or Project Management.

Essential: Evidence of continuing professional and personal development, required, including development as a leader and in quality.

Essential: BLS certification

Professional Licensure:

Essential: Valid license and registration in home country (non-Saudi nationals).

Essential: Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as a Specialist or higher.

Professional Experience

Essential: 6+ years progressive experience in Nursing, exclusive of fulltime study period, inclusive of the following:

Essential: 2+ years quality improvement, patient safety experience, risk management or project management experience.

Preferred: 2+ years nursing management/leadership experience (or equivalent).

Essential: Active participation in and have co-led/led performance improvement projects and initiatives.

Essential: Participated in hospital accreditation (e.g. CBAHI, JCI).

Preferred: Magnet journey accreditation experience.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills (Essential)

  • The ability to motivate, set standards and demonstrate accountability of self and others in the team.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of clinical integration of evidence-based practice and standard of care (Clinical Decision Making).
  • Demonstrates high level analytical and problem-solving skills (Critical Thinking).
  • Demonstrates effective conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a multicultural team environment with all levels of healthcare professionals, technical and administrative staff.
  • Capacity to create and maintain positive experiences, develop effective partnerships, engaging with senior executives, various internal and external stakeholders and patients/families in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate accordingly.
  • Facilitates team building.
  • Enhances commitment, efficiency, productivity and team success.
  • Works in a timely manner while meeting deadlines.
