Job Description

The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) is an independent, non-profit organization working in the fields of development, peacebuilding, and humanitarian response across Iraq. IID focuses on supporting vulnerable communities, returnees, and youth through integrated programs in livelihoods, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), education, and social cohesion, while promoting stability and sustainable development.

About the Position

IID is seeking a qualified and experienced Project Manager (Pending Donor Approval) to lead the implementation of a project focused on livelihood support and psychosocial services for returnees and vulnerable communities in Ninewa.

The Project Manager will be responsible for overall project implementation, team management, stakeholder coordination, and ensuring the high-quality delivery of all activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall implementation of the project in line with approved plans and timelines
  • Manage and supervise the full project team and ensure effective coordination
  • Work closely with MHPSS and Livelihood teams to ensure integrated and effective implementation of project activities
  • Conduct regular field visits to project locations to monitor progress, quality, and compliance
  • Hold regular team meetings (weekly and monthly) and participate in SMT (Senior Management Team) meetings for updates and planning
  • Prepare and review technical reports and ensure proper reporting coordination with the Program Director/Manager and donor requirements
  • Lead coordination, networking, and communication with local government authorities and stakeholders
  • Ensure preparation and follow-up of all required approvals and official documentation
  • Represent IID in meetings with donors and stakeholders
  • Manage the project budget and monitor expenditures in coordination with the finance team
  • Develop, update, and follow up on project work plans
  • Ensure alignment between implementation, budget, and procurement plans
  • Follow up on procurement processes in coordination with logistics and procurement staff
  • Ensure strong coordination with the M&E team and oversee reporting quality and data accuracy
  • Coordinate with other organizations and partners to ensure complementarity and avoid duplication
  • Support IID in new project planning, proposal development, and strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate with IID support teams in Ninewa and Erbil (HR, logistics, finance, etc.)
  • Ensure flexibility to travel across Iraq as required for project needs, including overnight stays


Qualifications & Experience

Master’s degree in a relevant field
Minimum 7–10 years of experience in project management in NGOs.
Proven experience managing donor-funded projects

Technical Knowledge (Required)

Strong knowledge of MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support)
Experience in PVE (Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism) programs
Experience in reintegration and stabilization programming
Strong understanding of livelihood and economic empowerment interventions
Familiarity with (data management and reporting systems)
