Job Description

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, humanitarian, non-governmental organisation providing assistance to people in need as a result of natural and man-made disasters, irrespective of race, religion, ideology or politics.

 

We are seeking to employ a candidate for the following position:

 

MENTAL HEALTH SUPERVISOR

 

Place of work: Ninewa Governorate- Nablus Hospital

Main purpose of the job:

 

Participate in the planning, supervision and coordination of mental health / pycho-social related services in the programme in accordance with MSF standards in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Participate in the organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the Mental Health activity manager (MHAM) and other medical team members, in order to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality in Mental Health MSF programs and activities.
  • Supervise the daily mental health activities according to MSF protocols and standards in order to provide the most appropriate support for clients with psychosocial needs
  • Liaise with the other MSF team members of the project.
  • Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
  • Oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning.
  • When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
  • Ensure the patient’s related information is kept confidential

 

MSFCH Specific Contextual Accountabilities

 

  • Coordination of activities in Nablus Hospital:
  • Take a leading role in coordinating and overseeing all operational activities within Nablus Hospital, ensuring alignment with MSF’s principles, protocols and objectives.
  • Act as a key point of contact between the hospital team and other MSF supervisors, fostering effective communication and collaboration to ensure seamless execution of daily operations.
  • Monitor the implementation of operational plans, address challenges promptly, and ensure the delivery of high quality healthcare services to patients

 

  • Facilitation and support of training initiatives:
  • Collaborate closely with the team to facilitate and support training sessions prepared by the MHAM for the decentralization project.
  • Ensure that all team members are equipped with the necessary tools, knowledge and resources to successfully participate in and implement the training outcomes.
  • Act as a facilitator to bridge gaps between the training content and it’s practical application in the field, promoting a culture of continous learning and development

               

  • Ensuring smooth transitions and knowledge transfer:
  • Oversee and manage the transition process related to the decentralization project, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations and services.
  • Facilitate hands-on operational knowledge transfer between the MHAMs, ensuring that critical information, procedures and best practices are effectively shared and implemented.
  • Implement the strategy alongside of the MHAM to promote sustainability, continuity and consistency in project execution during and after the transition phase.

 

  • Operational reporting and feedback
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on the progress of activities, challenges faced, and outcomes achieved, ensuring tranparency and accountability.
  • Maintain open lines of communicatoin with MSF leadership to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and objectives

 

  • Crisis management and problem solving
  • To be prepared to address operational challenges, conflicts or emergencies promptly and effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of the team and patients

 



Specific requirements for the role:

Education

Essential: Degree in clinical psychology or psycho-social or related field

Experience

Essential: Psycho-social counselling experience of at least 2 years

Languages                    

Essential: Fluency in Arabic & good commands in English (minimum B1)

Knowledge

Essential: Good competencies in MS Office (word and excel, outlook)
