Job Description

  1. Position Summary

The Education Officer will be responsible for managing and supervising the implementation of all Education and Protection activities under FORSA project. The position will lead the field team, coordinate with MEAL and Logistics, liaise with stakeholders, and ensure that activities are delivered in line with project goals, donor requirements, and organizational standards.

 

  1. Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation & Management

  • Oversee and ensure the effective implementation of project activities related to:
    • Enrollment of out-of-school children (OOSC) into formal education and ALP.
    • Distribution of learning kits and other educational support materials.
    • Follow-up with enrolled children and updating their data on the Waliku system.
    • Teacher capacity building and training on child-centered/learner-centered education.
    • Establishment and strengthening of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).
    • Establishment of referral pathways for case management and Child protection services.
  • Ensure smooth coordination and communication with the Directorates of Education (DoEs), Ministry of Education (MoE), school administrations, and other local stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Manage, support, and mentor project staff including Community Mobilizers, Protection & Education team members, volunteers, and community-based committees.
  • Ensure proper division of tasks, performance monitoring, and capacity development of the team.

Coordination & Communication

  • Maintain close coordination with MEAL to ensure timely SoVs & data collection, reporting, assessments, and monitoring visits.
  • Coordinate with Logistics to ensure timely procurement and delivery of required materials and resources.
  • Participate in internal and external coordination meetings as required.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare timely and high-quality weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports on project progress.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, beneficiary tracking, and filing systems.

Protection Mainstreaming

  • Ensure all activities comply with safeguarding, child protection, and Do No Harm principles.
  • Support the development of referral mechanisms and follow up on child protection cases.

Other Duties

  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Program Manager.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Education, Community Development, Psychology, or any related field.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working in community mobilization, education, child protection, or humanitarian projects.

  • Knowledge of local communities, culture, and social dynamics in Baghdad and surrounding areas.

  • Familiarity with education and child protection systems, including out-of-school children (OOSC) programmes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, teachers, and community leaders.

  • Experience in organizing community meetings, trainings, or awareness sessions.

  • Ability to collect, update, and manage data accurately, including using digital tools or systems (e.g., Waliku).

  • Understanding of child safeguarding principles and confidentiality requirements.

  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills to handle sensitive cases and community challenges.

  • Teamwork and collaboration skills, with flexibility to work in dynamic and challenging environments.

  • Fluency in Arabic, both written and spoken; knowledge of English is an advantage.
