Job Description

Brief description of the organization

Yazda Iraq is a local organization registered in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It operates as a subsidiary of the global Yazda organization and adheres to the same mission: supporting vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by genocide and mass atrocities. In Iraq/KRI, Yazda implements programs focused on advocacy, legal assistance, humanitarian aid, and community and survivor empowerment initiatives. The Country Director leads these efforts, ensuring they align with organizational goals and respond effectively to local needs

 

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this position is to lead and manage all Human Resources functions within Yazda, ensuring that HR operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational policies and Iraqi labor laws. The role is responsible for overseeing recruitment, onboarding, performance management, staff development, compensation, and employee relations. By supervising the HR team and working closely with project managers and the Operations Manager, the position ensures that Yazda maintains a supportive, transparent, and well-structured work environment that enables staff performance, organizational growth, and the delivery of high-quality programs.

 

Reposilities: 

  • Responsible for managing the HR system by creating HR files, updating the employees’ information, managing the employees’ leaves, PEs, and attendance.
  • Creating HR policies and procedures and updating them yearly.
  • Ensuring compliance with Iraqi laws as well as with all Yazda compliance and due diligence requirements in the field of Human Resources and Administration.
  • Making coordination with the HR team to ensure a smooth onboarding and separation for every employee. Make induction for a new joiner.
  • Creating employee training and organizational development programs.
  • Manage the hiring process with the Project Manager for the vacant positions by creating a hiring committee to conduct interviews and ensure that they follow the HR policy and procedures.
  • Cooperating with the project managers on doing performance evaluation and Probation period for the staff and monitoring employee attitudes, productivity, and performance outcomes.
  • Work on the salary cover monthly with the Finance Manager.
  • Doing the monthly payroll and payslip for staff's monthly salary.
  • Review the contracts and update the HR forms
  • Report to the Operations Manager


Skills and Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree is an asset.
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive HR experience, preferably with an NGO or international organization.
  • Experience in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and payroll processing.
  • Prior experience supervising HR staff is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Iraqi Labor Law and applicable employment regulations.
  • Understanding of HR compliance, due diligence, and best practices in HR administration.
  • Proficiency in HRIS, digital timesheets, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience preparing payroll, salary cover sheets, and employee records.
  • Excellent documentation, reporting, and record-keeping skills.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in Kurmaji, English, and Arabic (all written and spoken).
