OVERVIEW

The Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is a non-governmental, non-profit organization committed to supporting survivors of human rights violations through a comprehensive and holistic approach. Since its founding, the Foundation has provided specialized services including mental health and trauma care, medical assistance, legal support, and social reintegration programs. Operating across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the Foundation focuses on the promotion of justice, dignity, and the long-term well-being of individuals and communities affected by war, persecution, and violence. The Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is currently inviting qualified and motivated individuals to apply for the position of Psychotherapist, based in Sinune – Ninevah.

Position: Psychotherapist

Status: Part time

Based: Sinune – Ninevah

Reports to: Clinical leader

Required Degree: University degree in psychology/counseling or related areas

Application Deadline: 30/06/2025

Starting Date: 15/07/2025

Contract Duration: Eight Months

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Anamnesis and diagnostics of clients

2. Conducting intake and diagnostic interviews by using the organization’s guidelines

3. Psychotherapeutic (long-term) treatment, including group and individual therapy

4. Regular follow-up of therapeutic progress, prevention of dropouts, and correct termination of therapy

5. Risk assessment and psychological intervention for cases at high risk

6. Regular visits to IDP and refugee camps

7. Regular and complete documentation of patient data into the patient files and the database

8. Work in an interdisciplinary team, cooperation with other staff members, centers, and external partners

9. Organization and realization of information and empowerment events and awareness activities for clients and members of marginalized groups as well as for parents and other caretakers

10. Regular active participation in staff-to-staff trainings, case and team supervision, as well as seminars with external trainers both in Syria and abroad

11. Regular self-education in relevant topics by using the center’s specialized library

12. Regular attendance of external workshops, conferences, briefings, and other meetings of relevant civil society networks, committees, and working groups.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Fluent in Kurdish and Arabic (English skills desired)

2. University degree in psychology/counseling or related areas

3. Work experience with psychotherapy or counseling (desired)

4. Ability to travel, including multi-day trips both nationally and internationally

5. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, cooperation with other staff members, centers, and external partners

6. Active interest in promoting human rights and social justice

7. Applicants for the position in Sinune, should be settled or willing to resettle in Sinune .
