Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Abides by the Medical Staff By-Laws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.
Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.
Carries out full range of clinical duties as assigned by the director of department/head of division in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.
Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division.
Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Medicine Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable.
To be available and accessible for referrals and consultations from other disciplines, according to his/her interests and special experience.
To teach and train all medical staff in his/her section on the basis of such patients and to contribute to hospital symposia and meetings.
Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education.
Deputizes for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.
Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.
Participates in the forward planning, and further development of the department.
Serves on hospital committees as requested.
Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the director of department/head of division and Director of Academic Affairs and Training in planning a program of career development for trainees.
Teaches, assists, and trains all residents and registrars in the full range of required procedures, related to their experience and stage of training
Supervise and train the Residents and Registrars and participates in the formal Accident & Emergency residency-training program as required.
Supervise Residents and Registrars in Accident & Emergency research, investigations, and reporting as required.
Assists in the training, teaching, supervision and assessment of trainee technicians, specialists and others as required.
Provide classroom lectures to students, trainees or presentations to healthcare providers as required.
Takes part in teaching program lectures, seminars, tutorials etc.
Participate in Community activities as related to health education and patient education practice
Supervise and train all resident doctors under Accident & Emergency Department.
Participates in CQIPS system improvement activities, System Control activities, staff development activities.
Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
