Job Description
- Abides by the Medical Staff By-Laws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.
- Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.
- Carries out full range of clinical duties as assigned by the director of department/head of division in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges.
- Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division.
- Participates in the improvement of quality of patient care (Total Quality Medicine Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable.
- To be available and accessible for referrals and consultations from other disciplines, according to his/her interests and special experience.
- To teach and train all medical staff in his/her section on the basis of such patients and to contribute to hospital symposia and meetings.
- Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with regard to continuing medical education.
- Deputizes for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.
- Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.
- Participates in the forward planning, and further development of the department.
- Serves on hospital committees as requested.
- Participates in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated.
- Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the director of department/head of division and Director of Academic Affairs and Training in planning a program of career development for trainees.
- Teaches, assists, and trains all residents and registrars in the full range of required procedures, related to their experience and stage of training
- Supervise and train the Residents and Registrars and participates in the formal Accident & Emergency residency-training program as required.
- Supervise Residents and Registrars in Accident & Emergency research, investigations, and reporting as required.
- Assists in the training, teaching, supervision and assessment of trainee technicians, specialists and others as required.
- Provide classroom lectures to students, trainees or presentations to healthcare providers as required.
- Takes part in teaching program lectures, seminars, tutorials etc.
- Participate in Community activities as related to health education and patient education practice
- Supervise and train all resident doctors under Accident & Emergency Department.
- Participates in CQIPS system improvement activities, System Control activities, staff development activities.
- Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
