MEDICAL DOCTOR TRAINER SORAN

Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. MSF is looking for a Medical Doctor Trainer for its activities around Soran.

MAIN PURPOSE:

Support the International Medical Doctor and Nurse to develop/update/continue in the project defined Medical Learning and Development Strategy using validated quality improvement tools and mixed methodologies, identifying needs, setting objectives and implementing realistic objectives.

Support the International Medical Team in the context analysis and understanding.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises and collaborates with medical supervisors/manager and actively identifies the medical team’s learning and development needs, updating learning and development strategy regularly and before end of contract
• Improve the global quality of medical care within all departments/facilities:
• Implement and/or ensure the continuity of MSF medical standards and medical indicators.
• Accompany the medical team in evaluating medical indicators and defining/adapting their quality improvement strategy
• Together with the medical manager, develop the capacity of medical team supervisors and strengthen their leadership:
  • Assisting supervisors for designing, scheduling and providing bedside trainings and follow-up
  • Assessing with them medical care, using tools such as NCAT, documentation audits, setting priorities and objectives
• Participates in regular medical meeting and hospital meetings/committees where gaps in medical care may be identified
• Provide a monthly report detailing CPD delivered and plans for next month, including section in the project’s sitrep

PROJECT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• In coordination with the Senior Medical Doctor and theMTL, conduct an assessment of Emergency Rooms in 5 health facilities and their ambulance network (Soran hosp, Choman Hosp, Khalifan Hosp, Qasre PHC, Haji Omaran PHC) and identify the gaps to be covered (space organization and equipment)
• Learning Needs Assessment for medical care in ER in the 5 facilities and their ambulance network. Identify learning priorities
• Develop, in coordination with the management team of the hospital, a learning program. Develop the training program content / tools
• Identify key staff inside the hospital to be involved in the development of the training program
• Support in conducting trainings
• Support in delivering trainings (chronogram of training activities / drills / follow-up of training activities), focusing on bed-side methodology
• Post-training assessment
• Support in defining a tailored Mass Casualty Plan in each facility, including supply needs and training program
• Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
• Participate in pharmacy needs analysis and check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment
• Monitor the quality of IPC measures. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
