Background

iMMAP – Inc is currently bidding for a facilitative and logistical Implementation Agreement project where they will be engaged in providing facilitation support and financial administration for Phases 1 and 2 (Joint Survey Design) of the LFS 2026. iMMAP Inc – Iraq will act as a conduit partner responsible for disbursing project allowances to National Statistical Office (NSO) staff, managing logistics for technical workshops and meetings, procuring translation services, and providing administrative and coordination support throughout the survey design process.

 The Translation Supervisor reports to the LFS Project Manager and will work closely with the Logistics Coordinator and his team.

Description of Duties

The Translation Supervisor will lead and coordinate all translation activities to ensure that key Labor Force Survey (LFS) 2026 materials are accurately translated into English, Arabic, and Kurdish. The role requires strong project management skills, technical understanding of labor statistics terminology, and the ability to manage multiple translators and review cycles.

  • Lead the procurement and onboarding of qualified translators, ensuring they possess technical expertise in labor statistics, survey methodology, and official statistical terminology.
  • Manage the full translation workflow for core LFS 2026 documents, including:
  • The LFS questionnaire (approx. 15–20 pages)
  • Interviewer manuals, field protocols, and supporting guidance materials (approx. 80–120 pages)
  •  Ensure translation quality and consistency by applying project terminology standards, referencing international labor classifications (e.g., ISCO, ISIC), and maintaining alignment with ILO guidelines.
  • Coordinate back‑translation and quality assurance processes, including:
  • Selecting critical modules for back‑translation
  • Reviewing discrepancies and ensuring technical accuracy
  • Managing one consolidated revision cycle following feedback from ILO and National Statistical Offices (NSOs)
  •  Develop and maintain a tri‑lingual translation glossary (English–Arabic–Kurdish) to ensure consistent terminology across all project materials and translation teams.
  •  Facilitate communication between translators, technical experts, and project stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of drafts, reviews, and final versions.
  • Oversee formatting, proofreading, and finalization of translated materials to ensure they are field‑ready, clear, and operational for enumerators and supervisors.
  •  Maintain organized documentation and version control, ensuring all translation files, revision logs, and glossary updates are properly archived and accessible.
  • Monitor timelines and deliverables, proactively identifying risks or delays and coordinating mitigation measures with project management.
 
 


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Social Sciences, Communications, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional translation or language‑management experience, preferably in development, statistics, or survey operations.
  • Demonstrated experience translating technical materials, ideally related to labor statistics, household surveys, or official statistical terminology.
  • Proven experience managing translation teams or subcontracted translators.
  • Excellent command of English, Arabic, and Kurdish (Sorani and/or Kurmanji).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience working with international organizations, UN agencies, or donor‑funded projects is an asset.
