Context/Reporting line:
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Migration Health Officer, the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and the direct supervision of the Senior Community Health Assistant in close coordination with the National Program Officer, the successful incumbents will perform the following duties:
Core Functions / Responsibilities
- Support field-level implementation of community health and health promotion activities related to priority public health topics within assigned communities.
- Support the implementation of health campaigns, including NCD awareness, breastfeeding promotion, child health and healthy lifestyle activities and other campaigns.
- Conduct health promotion activities such as door-to-door visits, group sessions, and community awareness events, targeting diverse population groups.
- Support the planning and delivery of community health events and campaigns in targeted locations.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating trainings, meetings, workshops, and community discussions in line with IOM guidelines and SOPs.
- Act as a liaison between IOM, community members, and community leaders to ensure effective coordination and engagement.
- Participate in data collection, surveys, reporting, IEC material distribution, and follow-up visits.
- Monitor and report community feedback, misinformation, and emerging public health concerns.
- Support and conduct data collection activities, perform data quality checks, and contribute to timely and accurate reporting in coordination with the Community Health Team Leader.
- Prepare activity reports accordingly.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, sociology, psychology, or any relevant field from an accredited academic university or institute with three years of relevant experience, or
- Completed high school from an accredited academic institution with 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience and Skills:
- Demonstrate flexibility, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and respect for all people. Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible, respectful, and compassionate team player.
- Ability to gain and build trust with communities and local leaders, strong networking and respectful negotiation skills.
- Ability to comfortably conduct and interact with beneficiaries during door-to-door visits, group briefings, and lead sessions with a sufficient level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using digital data collection tools, such as ODK and KoBo.
- Experience in health-related programs will be an asset; experience with international non-governmental organizations or UN agencies is advantageous.
Languages:
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
- Working Knowledge in any other language is an advantage.
