Consultancy: Integrated Study on Women’s Economic Participation in Mosul

Background:
CARE, in partnership with The Lotus Flower (TLF), is implementing a project in Mosul that supports women to start and grow small, climate-responsible businesses through mentorship, awareness sessions, and in-kind support. To ensure the project remains relevant and grounded in community realities, CARE will conduct an integrated study combining a rapid assessment and a structured analysis. This study will identify what enables or prevents women from engaging in income-generating activities, how family and community views influence participation, and what livelihood and protection services currently exist in Mosul. Findings will directly inform project activities including mentorship, in-kind support, awareness efforts, and advocacy materials.

The consultant will:
1. Review existing reports and studies on women’s livelihood participation and service availability in Mosul and Ninewa.
2. Collect new data through surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with:
3. Analyze findings to identify the most significant barriers and enablers.
4. Develop recommendations that can be used to improve mentorship, in-kind support, and awareness interventions.
The consultant will determine the exact number of FGDs, KIIs, and survey participants during the inception phase, based on feasibility and field realities.

Duration and Level of Effort
The total duration is four (4) weeks from the contract start date.
The work is expected to take around 20–25 working days, including data collection, analysis, validation, and reporting. Fieldwork will take place in Mosul with support from CARE and TLF staff.
