Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is a charitable organization supporting survivors of human rights violations, defending fundamental freedoms, and promoting democratic values throughout the world. Our programs provide mental health, medical treatment, and other support services to survivors of trauma, terror, domestic violence, and human rights violations. We are seeking applications for the following position:
Position: Physiotherapist Status: Part-time Based: Erbil Reports to: Clinical Leader, Head of Trauma Care and Health. Required Degree: Physiotherapy Application Deadline: February 23, 2025 Starting Date: ASAP Contract Duration: One year, with the possibility of renewal
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Clinical Service Delivery: • Assess initial needs of physiotherapy clients, apply clinical reasoning to identify and provide appropriate physiotherapy interventions, and evaluate progress toward treatment goals on an ongoing basis, adjusting rehabilitative care as appropriate based upon clinical reasoning. Deliver interventions that may include education, exercise therapy, and manual therapy in the context of group work or within individual sessions. • Educate and advise clients and their caretakers about self-management of presenting physical conditions. Clinical Coordination: • Consistently communicate prior to and throughout client sessions with other disciplines to supply and receive relevant information about the background and progress of clients as well as refer those who require other specific medical attention. • Recognize, and respect boundaries between disciplines. • Liaise with clinical staff from outside the organizations to help them identify children and families whose physical functioning may have been affected by war-related experiences and encourage them to approach the organization for support. Clinical Program Development: • Promote community awareness, understanding, and engagement by providing training to partner organizations on self-care and team-building workshops. • Contribute to completing the documentation and reporting of external trainings. Clinical Standards: • Maintain up-to-date clinical records and statistical data and ensure that all required documentation is completed and stored in a timely and professional manner. • Ensure that all work with clients observes organizational confidentiality policies, that guidelines around protected health information are adhered to, and that ethical practices are observed at all times and are in accordance with organizational and WPA standards. • Uphold the highest humanitarian standards related to the prevention of sexual abuse and exploitation. • Take responsibility for maintaining professional development by keeping up to date with the evidence-based practice for managing clients. • Attend all scheduled training and meetings necessary for professional development and team coordination, and upon request. • Attend regular support, debriefing, case conferences, and/or supervision meetings to ensure information and skill-sharing. • Attending regular supportive self-care sessions either individually within supervision or with the team in the self-care activities. Carry out any other relevant duties according to the professional capacities and position in the organization as assigned by the line manager in mutual agreement.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor or higher degree in physiotherapy. • Physiotherapy practicing official license. • At least 2 years of relevant experience. • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and data entry. • Fluent in Kurdish (English skills desired). • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Strong organizational and analytical skills. • Ability to work independently and as a team member
