Training & Development
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of training programs on Quality Management (QM) for internal staff, Standards & Training Team (S&TT), and students enrolled in Supervisor, QM, and Field Operations Manager (FOM) courses.
- Develop capacity-building initiatives to ensure staff are proficient in QA processes, standards, and risk management.
- Actively contribute to MAG’s internal knowledge-sharing initiatives, including contributing materials to the Training School’s Reference Library.
Quality Management
- Plan, implement and report on Quality Assurance (QA) activities conducted by the Standards & Training Team S&TT.
- Ensure S&TT staff are fully familiarized with National Mine Action Standards (NMAS), MAG SOPs, MAG GTS, International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), and all MAG programme operational documentation.
- Provide weekly reports to the STM on all internal and external QA monitoring visits and evaluations, including follow up action on all non-conformities.
- Maintain a database of QA monitoring reports and provided draft amendments to changes in SOPs that arise from points raised during QA monitoring that are not covered currently in SOPs.
Technical
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MAG’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), mine action standards, drills, technical equipment used in operational areas, in addition to mines and munitions used in the theatre of operations.
- Ensure an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of all relevant technical equipment in the theatre of operations.
- Ensure the maintenance, and safe and appropriate storage of all necessary project materials and equipment.
- Travel to operational task sites to observe and keep up to date with practices and types/condition of recovered Explosive Ordnance (EO).
- Other duties as directed, in accordance with programme requirements.
Management and HR
- Ensure that staff and student training files are produced and shared with HR ensuring alignment with MAG policies.
- Manage, mentor and develop the standards team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring team members are aligned with MAG’s quality and safety standards
- Ensure that HR policies and procedures are implemented in consultation with Base Manager and HR Manager.
- Participate in the recruitment procedures for new standards staff in line with MAG’s policies and procedures.
Communications and Reporting
- Ensure the NTM and STM are fully briefed on all training issues and any technical difficulties arising.
- Submit accurate training reports and produce other technical reports and documents as and when directed by the STM.
- Assist the STM/TOM in the development and production of training proposals, reports and budgets.
- As required by the STM/TOM participate in investigation into incidents/accidents.
Investigations

- Ensure that lessons learned from investigations are systematically incorporated into the future operational practices and SOPs to prevent recurrence
- Work closely with the S&TT and other departments to identify potential risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and ensure that all technical staff are briefed on safety protocols
Health, Safety and Security
- Assist in the monitoring of the security situation in work location and areas of operations ensuring that the NTM/STM are kept informed of security risks and developments.
- Ensure that all activities conducted by the standards team comply with MAG’s safety protocols and that staff are regularly briefed on risk mitigation strategies.
Salary Pay: 3294823 IQD or its equivalent in USD at CBI rate (monthly gross salary)

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Technical Qualifications
- Recognized qualifications in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) at Level 3 or higher.
- Certified in Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) or Render Safe Procedures (RSP).
- Instructor certification with a focus on mine action, EOD, or IEDD operations.
- Demonstrated experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) relevant to high-risk environments like mine action or ordnance clearance.
- Experience in drafting and amending Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to mine action or explosive ordnance.
- Certified ISO:9001 2015 Internal auditor is highly desirable.
Operational and Technical Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role
- Proven experience in implementing and managing QMS in an NGO/INJO, mine action, demining, or IED disposal context.
- Experience working in mine clearance operations in Iraq or similarly contaminated post-conflict areas.
- Experience in training teams in technical disciplines, including EOD, IEDD, and safety management.
- Ability to lead and coach diverse teams of operational and training staff, particularly in high-risk environments.
- Strong database management experience related to operational data tracking, quality control, and reporting on non-conformities.
- Deep understanding of mines, unexploded ordnance, and demining techniques, including knowledge of evolving technologies and best practices.
- Technical knowledge of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and familiarity with contemporary search and clearance techniques.
- Up-to-date knowledge of international mine action standards (IMAS), National Mine Action Standards (NMAS).
Languages
- Proficient in spoken and written English, Kurdish and Arabic.
- Proven ability to translate technical and operational documents from English to Kurdish (and Arabic) and vice versa.
- Strong skills in interpreting during training sessions and meetings, particularly in technical topics, from English to Kurdish and Arabic.
Interpersonal Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience planning, coordinating, and overseeing training programs in technical environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for writing detailed reports, tracking data, and creating presentations.
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-cultural environments, building relationships at all levels of the organization, from field staff to senior management.
- Experience in mentoring and motivating teams, especially in high-stress environments, with a focus on fostering professional growth and performance improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
