Job Description

Purpose:

The Project Manager will be the in-country technical and managerial lead for this project and will lead on the project planning, implementation ensure the timely and quality deliverables are on track with the project implementation plan, budget, in compliance with donor requirement and WFWI policies and procedures. 

The Project manager is member of WFWI’s Iraq Country Office Senior Management Team (SMT).

Engagement:

  • Closely works with the Grants Manager, Finance and Logistics manager, MERL manager on the planning and technical teams to delivery on project outcomes/activities, donor reporting. 
  • Coordinates with the global technical teams and project partners on the development of the project tools, guidelines, partner selection processes and the project quality aspects.
  • Works closely with the Country office Finance and Logistics manager to prepare budget forecasts and financial reports.
  • Attends the monthly Grant and project Management meetings and provides analysis of progress against implementation plans.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with the grants manager, finance manager sub-grantees/ project
  • Stay informed about the Iraqi CSO and NGO regulations, changes in the operational context that may have positive/negative impact on the project implementation and take necessary action. .
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with other collaborating agencies, partner organizations and community leaders to develop partnerships, networking.
  • Focal point with relevant Government entities and coordination bodies representing the project.

 

 

Delivery:

  • Sensitize NGOs, women’s rights organizations, local government agencies, relevant UN Agencies relevant working group about the project and seek buy-in; engage with representatives for inputs into project plans and outputs.

 

  • Organize and facilitate workshops/consultation meetings to inform the development of the project implementation guidelines.
  • Communicate the project updates and progress at local coordination meetings e.g GBV sub-working group and other women rights coordination for a.
  • Undertake partner mapping, capacity analysis to understand the capabilities and partner capacity gaps that need to be addressed through the project.
  • Lead on the planning and delivery of all country-level project activities, including the subgrantee and project partner mapping.
  • Facilitate the partner selection committee meetings and participate in the sub-grantee selection decision making.
  • Participate in regular technical meetings with the global GSC technical teams.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as per WFWI internal and donor reporting requirements.
  • Ensure quality control, impact and that the project is carried out in accordance with the mission and goals of WfWI and the donor terms and conditions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum master’s degree or equivalent post graduate degree in social development, Women Rights, Human Rights, public policy or other relevant field [Note: number of years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of master’s degree but minimum of bachelor’s degree is required.].
  • Years of experience: Minimum of 7 years of work experience in relevant field, preferably within the INGO sector, of which at least 3 years of project/program management.
  • Previous experience conducting activities for projects funded by the Major donors in Iraq or bilateral agency, with experience writing reports and updates.
  • Demonstrated experience with protection, women rights networks at local and national levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, lead, and motivate a large team of people through a participatory and enabling management style.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of gender issues, women rights and proven commitment to addressing gender inequalities in all key areas of responsibility.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to and respect for Women for Women International’s mission and values.
  • Knowledge and experience in training and facilitating CSO and LNGO training or coordination.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well as a part of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to travel central or southern Iraq and internationally as required.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and email applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal English and Arabic languages.
  • Ability to have flexible work schedule which may include early mornings, evenings and weekends. May be required to occasionally work beyond normally scheduled hours.
  • Able to travel to all 19 provinces in Iraq.

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Long hours work on the laptop.
  • Sitting during long drives while travelling to other field locations
